Q & A with Glenn Young

1/3/2003
Q. Why did you join the fraternity?
A. I desired to be part of Greek life at UGA and KA was the best fit for the type of group of friends I wanted. The guys were fun, personable, not pretentious, had good values, KA was one of top fraternities for popularity and reputation on campus.

Q. What is your favorite memory of the fraternity?
A. All of it was good ... Old South and Cowboy Ball were always great annual events, but what I remember most was the jam sessions in the front yard after GA football games, having my date dancing in front of the bands and celebrating with college buds.

Q. What kind of influence has the fraternity had on your life since graduation?
A. It taught me brotherhood and how KA was special after discussing with people who did not experience the same in college.

Q. With whom are you still in touch? Who would you like to find?
A. I keep in touch with Harry Fitzgerald '75, Bob Kenerly '79, James Stanley '75, Tommy Jackson '78, Brian Saunders, and Doc Eldridge '76. I'd like to find Steve Owings (just learned he lost his oldest son in car accident), Mike Madden, Lee Marsha, Dan Broos '78, Bill Young '78, and Joel Tiblier '79.

Q. Tell us about your family. Are you married? Do you have children?
A. I married Jan Elder Young in 1980 and we have an 11-year-old son, Everett.

Q. What do you do for a living?
A. I'm the corporate director of Corporate Accounts for GE Medical Systems.

Q. What organizations are you affiliated with in your community?
A. YMCA, Little League coaching, usher at church

Q. What hobbies do you enjoy?
A. Tennis, golf, water sports and snow skiing, traveling and visiting new places.

Q. What are your goals for the next few years?
A. To raise my son to be a responsible young man, prepared for his future and to relocate my family to a smaller "community" environment where we are around more of our friends having similar backgrounds and experiences. That will make my wife happy Finally, to spend more time with friends and family, balancing demands of busy work schedule.
