KA Family Tree Series: The Knox FamilyWe kicked off our KA Family Tree Series last month with the Liles family. Thank you to the Liles family for contributing their legacy-filled genealogy. This month we bring you the story of the Knox family … a story that began in the 1950s with five cousins from Thomson, Ga. As one of the five cousins, Bob, Jr. ’63, said in an interview about his cousin Boone Knox ’58, “In our family, you're expected to be a KA and that's about it.”

As of this writing, 15 Knox family boys have called Gamma Chapter home, and if the next generation follows the family tradition, this number will continue to grow.

Here is a look at the Knox family tree:

As explained by one of the cousins, Andy ’68, the Knox family is very close. “It really gets back to the fact that we have a tradition of all gathering on Christmas Eve,” he explains. “We gather back here in Thompson in the same house where my father and his three brothers grew up. It is usually between 65 and 85 of us. Because of this annual reunion, we all stay in touch with one another … children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews. There is a bond across the generations. And that means our KA tradition is passed on. It’s hard to explain, but it just happens.”
