It is with heavy hearts that we announce the recent passing of Brother Skipper Hoke. Though he is no longer with us, he will remain forever in the hearts and memories of his friends and family.

via legacy.com—HOKE, Roland Thomas "Skipper" Age 72 of Roswell, GA passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2016. Skipper was born in Newnan, GA to the late Robert and Christine Hoke. After the premature death of both his parents, he was adopted and raised by his maternal family: Jesse and Mary Holloway and Jean Pierce, Tom Holloway and Nita Robinson.

He graduated from Newnan High School in 1962 where he was an accomplished scholar and athlete, and from The University of Georgia in 1966 where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, and the life of many parties. In 1967, he married Nancy Cline from Lakeland, FL and they were married for the last 49 years. That same year, he and Nancy moved to Roswell, GA where he was an active member in every aspect of the Roswell Community. He was Vice President of Roswell Bank for over 20 years, and for a short period of time he moved his family to Dade City, FL and was employed by the Bank of Pasco County. Upon retirement from banking in 1992, he worked for Fulton County as a substitute bus driver which continued his service to the community of Roswell.

Skipper was an active member of Roswell United Methodist church for over 48 years, serving as an Usher, a Board Member, and a Stephen Minister. Because of his great love for the Georgia Bulldogs, he co-founded the Roswell Bulldog Club and loved to go the Classic City on Saturdays in the Fall. Skipper joined the Roswell Rotary Club in 1981, and served as President in 1990, and he was Paul Harris Fellow and Will Watt Fellow. Skipper was member of Cherokee Town & Country Club, the Gridiron Secret Society, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and a Northside and St. Joseph's Hospital volunteer. Skipper loved life and everyone he met. He loved The Lord, Newnan, Roswell, Athens, his family and his countless number of friends.

Skipper was predeceased by his son Todd Robert Hoke and survived by his wife, Nancy Cline Hoke, his son, Charles Roland Hoke (Leigh) and his beloved grandchildren Noelle Christine Hoke and Charles "Charlie" Roland Hoke, Jr. Noelle and Charlie called him "Pappy".
