Q: Why did you join KA Order in the first place?

A: I transferred to UGA from Emory at Oxford after my sophomore year and went through rush. My hometown of Dublin, GA was well represented in the Gamma chapter over the years, and Mike Malone ’63 was very instrumental in my pledging KA. Plus, it was the best fraternity at Georgia.

Q: What’s your favorite memory from your time in the chapter?

A: Living in Room five with the late Nelson Padgett and the great Bill Huff ’65, plus having my first date with my wife of 51 years, Terry Harris of Albany during a KA/ADPi social.

Q: Tell us about your company.

A: My partner and I founded Angel Medical Supply in 2010 after the downturn in real estate. It supplies respiratory equipment and other supplies to juvenile patients who are usually very sick, and generally depend on Medicaid for assistance.

Q: How did your time in KA Order help to prepare you for that role?

A: I was honored to serve as President of my Pledge Class, and watched older brothers conduct themselves in manners that I considered (and still do) appropriate for men of character and leadership.

Q: What have you been up to since graduation?

A: Since I graduated in 1964, there is not enough space to answer completely, but my son, Beck, and my daughter, Georgana, their spouses and their five children have been a huge part of our lives.

Q: What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?

A: Staying healthy and remaining active, both in business and socially.

Q: What advice would you give to future generations of KA Order members?

A: Always remember what values the Order was founded upon, and look to Robert E. Lee as a role model.
